Tingley photographer gets a tasty job with celebrity chef Jean Christophe Novelli
A talented photographer from Tingley was scouted out by a celebrity chef to take photos for a new cookbook.
Tim Green of Church Lane has been freelancing for the past 20 years, with a special eye for food photography,
And after working for the Yorkshire-based Relish Publishers, his work was spotted by TV chef Jean-Christophe Novelli.
Mr Green said of being asked to photographs Mr Novelli’s latest cookbook: “It was brilliant news. I had only ever done one other dedicated cookbook, so this was quite a good way to start.”
Food fan Mr Green, 52, was invited down to London where Novelli has his cookery school and there, he spent seven days photographing over 100 classic French dishes.
“It was hard work and hot!” said Mr Green who got to sample many of the award-winning dishes. His favourite being Mr Novelli’s Coq Au Vin which was made using chocolate.
He added: “It (the photoshoot) was nerve-wracking at first but it was really good when I got to know him.”
Mr Green took photos of the whole process from preparation to serving and he said that the celebrity chef was so pleased with the images that he has mentioned Mr Green in his latest cookbook, Simply Novelli.
Mr Novelli said: “I aim to eliminate the myth that preparing French food can be complicated and daunting and hopefully encourage more people to try some of the most famous French classics ever created, not originally by me, but by all my gifted predecessors who took the time to refine the art of cuisine in the true meaning of the word.”
And for snap-happy Mr Green, this is just the start of things to come as he hopes to do more work locally.
He said: “Yorkshire has become one of the food capitals.”
