CHEF Mike Harrison has earned his reputation through a career spanning almost 30 years both here in the UK and abroad. As he worked and travelled throughout California, Canada and the British Isles he developed and perfected his skills and talents to create a truly innovative dining experience using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
Michael’s restaurant “Michaels“ gained the prestigious “Lancashire Life newcomer of the year” award in 1996 and also saw him nominated for Chef of the Year at Manchester Food and Drink Festival. He has since worked closely with celebrity chefs, top businesses and local authorities coupled with many appearances on North West TV shows demonstrating his culinary skills.
As a consultant Michael has been instrumental in advising and setting up numerous restaurants, contract catering businesses and cookery schools. He also writes weekly features and menus for a variety of media, including newspapers and magazines.
In 2008 Michael, along with a partner, set up a new business in Bolton called Zest Fine Food. This new venture consisted of a delicatessen, restaurant and cookery school, but in April 2010 he decided to sell his share to concentrate on consultancy work with a large events catering company. In association with Bolton Council he works as a food consultant on a number of projects, including the council’s prestigious food and drink festival which he has been involved with since its inception in 2005.
For the last 15 years Michael has concentrated on providing fine dining at private and business functions and, over the last two years, has cooked for royalty, sports and TV personalities. He has established a reputation for providing innovative haute cuisine menus for private dinner parties and corporate functions throughout the region.
